Black Walnut Sale
Andrew Buchner

I managed to get a hold of a lot of fresh cut black walnut, rounds, not able to be turned into boards. Its more wood than I will be able to use, but it would otherwise be going to the Merritt Compost Facility. As 10-15" rounds, it is best for woodturning, and I've decided to sell prepared and sealed blanks of this gorgeous wood as a fundraiser for the Space. $30 per piece, and I may have a sponsor who will match all donations. There will be a Facebook ad, and the Kamloops Woodworker's Guild has been notified.

As it is more wood than I can store at home, being used for the benefit of the Makerspace, I would like to store it behind the building next to our compressor shack. It will be in bins, stored under a tarp. Any non-member looking to pick up some of the wood would have to meet me, preferably on a Wednesday evening. If you know any woodturners, please let them know, only 20-25 pieces will be available.

And, if anyone is interesting in learning to turn bowls on the lathe, Jim also dropped off some birch planks he was milling at Heavy Metal Rocks last week. These will also be stored out of the way behind the building. If I am able to get a new headstock for my personal lathe in the coming month, we many be able to run a course and show two people at time, with a nominal donation to the Makerspace for the wood.
